INTERVISTA AL DIRETTORE
Dott.ssa Luisa Bianchi
HR/Legal/Corporate Affairs Director
Could you describe your role and your Company?
I’ve been working for Beiersdorf for 8 years, and at present I am the HR/Legal/Corporate Affairs Director for Italy.
Beiersdorf was founded in Hamburg in 1882 and now it has around 22,000 employees in the world and a network of 150 branches registering a great success in the market for consumer goods for skin care. In everything we do, we are committed in following our four cornerstones: Superior Brands, Superior Supply Chain, Clear Geographical Focus and Superior Talent in Lean Organization. I’m sure everyone has heard about at least one of our brands: Nivea, Labello, Hansaplast and Eucerin.
Which is the corporate culture that all Beiersdorf employees share?
Our business is driven by three characteristics: inspiration, courage, commitment. These values can’t be missing in the people who work at our company. Encouraged by challenging tasks and the opportunity to take on personal responsibility, our employees are the determining factors in our ability to overcome daily market challenges and achieve increasingly high-performing results. They are our real strength.
Has this corporate culture evolved from the past?
As every live organization, even Beiersdorf is the result of the interaction between people who are part of it.
In the past, it used to have a quite rigid and functional structure; but thanks to our experience in the market and our open-minded people we have understood that this strategy wouldn’t have been successful for a long time yet: therefore, the natural evolution of Beiersdorf culture was to give space to cross-functional sharing of knowledge and mutual influence.
Our managers have to acquire a 360-degrees view of the business, that’s why we encourage co-operation and constant involvement.
What can Beiersdorf offer to people looking for a successful career?
As a continually-expanding global leader with an excellent working environment, Beiersdorf is the ideal place where to direct your professional path.
It offers a unique combination of winning spirit and teamwork that is both performance-driven and friendly.
We think that investing in our people is the best strategy to hold our leading position: that’s why my role is to create a corporate culture based on knowledge sharing and job rotation. With this aim, we also offer further support through development programs designed to encourage both professional and personal talent.
Are you looking for new graduates and young talents?
Even if many of our vacancies are filled through our job rotation programs, we firmly believe that new people will bring fresh inputs and innovative ideas to our business. Therefore, we encourage internship programs and we are always willing to welcome new young talents.
As a first step to start a career in Beiersdorf, internship programs help us to identify and attract high potential students with international management competence at an early stage, thus creating a recruitment pool for professional talent. In order to be able to learn about all aspects of our company, interns take part in the daily work of different reference areas: Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, Finance and Controlling and Supply Chain.
Those who can speak German besides English and are interested in an international career, can also take part to our international training “Beyond Borders Program”. It lasts 18 months, including a six-month period abroad.
Which personal characteristics are required to become part of Beiersdorf?
We really appreciate people that have group spirit, attention to change and focus on innovation. We have a unique corporate culture based on collaboration and teamwork.
If you are driven by passion and a desire to learn through contact with a stimulating environment, if you believe in your abilities, if you are a graduate in Economics and Business, Engineering or Communication Sciences... you are just the person we are looking for!
